Vahid Halilhodžić among candidates for new Croatia coach

Renowned BiH football coach Vahid Halilhodžić is mentioned as one of the main candidates for the new coach of the Croatian national team, reports Patria agency.

After last week's loss to Turkey, there is increasing talk in Croatia that the current coach Ante Čačić will soon be fired, and that the Croatian Football Federation is already looking for a replacement.

Among the names mentioned as possible future Croatian coaches is Vahid Halilhodžić, writes Večernji list.

He would undoubtedly be an excellent choice in the future because he has a great playing career behind him, but an equally good coaching career. After all, last week he secured qualification for Russia with the Japanese national team, which will be his third World Cup appearance as a coach.

He led Ivory Coast to South Africa in 2010, while in 2014 his Algeria impressed with great play, and was eliminated in the round of 16 only in extra time by the Germans, who later won the world title.

However, Vaha had a falling out with Zdravko Mamić once before because he interfered with his work, so it is questionable whether he would accept the job in "interest-driven" Croatian football again, according to Večernji list.

We remind you that Vahid Halilhodžić previously managed Dinamo Zagreb, with whom he had considerable success, but had to leave the club due to disagreements with Mamić.

Besides Halilhodžić, the name of another man from Herzegovina, Zlatko Dalić from Livno, is also mentioned.
