AHEAD OF MEETINGS AT THE OHR Plenković and Čović discussed amendments to the Election Law

(Patria) - Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met with Dragan Čović, President of HDZ BiH, in Zagreb today, ahead of a new round of talks between political parties at the OHR scheduled to begin tomorrow, April 18.

Plenković stated on Twitter that it was a working meeting.

"The urgent formation of the Government of the Federation and the continuation of negotiations on electoral reform are key prerequisites for the functionality and betterment of BiH. Croatia remains the strongest advocate for BiH's European path," Plenković wrote.

Čović also commented, stating that in his conversation with Plenković, he emphasized that resolving the issue of legitimate representation in the Presidency and the House of Peoples is crucial for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Čović announced on Friday that he would meet with representatives of the 'eight' coalition and the international community on Tuesday to try to find a solution for unblocking the appointment of the FBiH Government. The Constitution of FBiH precisely stipulates that the President/Vice-Presidents of FBiH must give their consent, which is not the case at the moment. Although Refik Lendo did not give his consent, the President of FBiH, Lidija Bradara, forwarded the appointment decision to the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, which considered this information on April 6, but all conditions for confirming the new government have not yet been met.

This is precisely what the parties gathered around SDP and HDZ expect the High Representative Christian Schmidt to resolve with a new intervention.

However, the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament adopted a declaration at the same session expressing opposition to any new impositions and amendments to the Constitution of FBiH and the Election Law of BiH.
