Ultramarathoners started from Vukovar towards Potočari, arriving on July 10th

(Patria) - Ultramarathoners from Vukovar started this morning on a 227-kilometer journey to pay tribute to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.

The ultramarathoners will run in five stages, and nine runners set off towards Potočari.

The head of the 12th Vukovar-Srebrenica ultramarathon, Ekrem Bećirović, said that the Marathon of Peace is dedicated to all innocent victims of the recent war, especially the victims of Vukovar and Srebrenica.

"Our fight for justice and truth is something that will never end, and we have directed this ultramarathon in that direction," said Bećirović.

The organizer of the ultramarathon is the Council of the Bosniak National Minority of the City of Zagreb, and the patrons are the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović, members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić, and the Mayor of the City of Zagreb Tomislav Tomašević.

The arrival of the participants in Potočari is expected on July 10th around 12:30 PM.
