If you are vacationing in Croatia, do not leave car windows open, the police will fine you

The Road Traffic Safety Act also has less known provisions according to which the police can fine you.

Even if something is sticking out of your trunk and the license plates are not clearly visible, you could get a fine of 260 euros, but you could pay just as much if they notice you are sleepy while driving. Inappropriate speed, inexperience behind the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt, and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs are some of the most common causes of traffic accidents, which the police often appeal about.

Croatia's Road Traffic Safety Act is quite extensive with its 310 articles, and there are also less known provisions according to which the police can fine you and hit your pocket hard, writes 24sata.

For example, if you overfill your trunk and some items are hanging out and obscuring your license plate, you can get a fine of 130 to 260 euros. If you are going on a long trip, be sure to take the necessary breaks for rest and never get behind the wheel if you are too tired.

Because if the police catch you sleepy behind the wheel, you will pay a fine between 130 and 260 euros. Besides quite an expensive way to wake up, fatigue behind the wheel can have tragic consequences. The same fine awaits you if you get behind the wheel while sick.

You will pay 130 euros for slalom driving outside the highway, and twice as much on the highway. For driving in the wrong direction on the highway, a fine of 1320 to even 2650 euros or 60 days in prison is foreseen.

The police can even fine you if you do not close the car windows. Namely, the driver is obliged to take all measures to prevent the car from moving on its own or from being started by other people, which includes turning off the engine, locking the vehicle, taking the key, but also closing the windows. If you forget this, be prepared for a fine of 30 euros. You will fare even worse for throwing small waste out of the car, as a fine of 130 euros is foreseen.

And therefore, if you are counting down the days to your vacation and preparing for the trip, be extra careful and think twice before leaving your metal pet to “just air out a bit” so that you don't have a bitter taste in your mouth after your holiday.
