Trial of Captain Dragan for crimes in Croatia begins in Split

The trial of Dragan Vasiljković, better known as Captain Dragan, will begin today in Split at the Palace of Justice, writes Patria.  

Vasiljković is accused of a series of crimes in Croatia, particularly in Glina. After a decade-long legal procedure, he was extradited to Croatia in July last year.

Jacquelin Magnay, a journalist for The Australian newspaper, will come from London to the trial at the County Court in Split.

The Australian media outlet sent its correspondent for Europe to Split, as they were the ones who discovered Dragan Vasiljković 11 years ago in Perth, hiding under the guise of golf instructor Daniel Snedden.

Among the interested media are also journalists from Germany's Süddeutsche Zeitung. Namely, Vasiljković is accused of being responsible for the death of German journalist Egon Scotland, who was killed in 1991 at the entrance to Glina.

Vasiljković was investigated and accused by the BiH judiciary of committing mass crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Zvornik, primarily in the settlement of Divič. As far as is known, there have been no announcements from Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the coverage of this trial.
