New major floods possible in Slovenia over the weekend

(Patria) - The hydrological department of the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) has issued a warning for the upcoming weekend, announcing major floods as a consequence of prolonged rainfall.

ARSO states that rainfall in western, central, and parts of northern Slovenia will intensify tonight and on Saturday evening, with the possibility of prolonged precipitation.

Certain watercourses and smaller rivers may overflow.

A rapid rise in water levels is also possible in areas such as Gorenjska and Cerklje and Škofja Loka, which have already experienced floods this summer.

We remind you that Slovenia was hit by an unprecedented flood wave in August, which claimed the lives of at least six people, and the damage is measured in hundreds of millions of euros.
