Pride Parade held in Podgorica

The Pride Parade of the LGBT population was held today in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, without a single incident, Montenegrin media report, as relayed by the BH News Agency Patria.

As stated by the Mayor of Podgorica, Slavoljub Stijepović, this city has shown that it is a tolerant and European city.

- The citizens of Podgorica have shown that they are open, tolerant, and wise - said Stijepović. He concluded by thanking "the majority that understood this, and who are not here today".

The Police Administration announced that not a single incident was recorded, while last year during the same period there were arrests and violence. Several individuals were detained for intending to attack the Parade participants, as they were found with balaclavas, metal rods, and so-called brass knuckles.

Otherwise, the Parade was attended by members of the LGBT population from Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, politicians, the NGO sector, and representatives of the EU in Montenegro...
