Primary school opened in Kiseljak exclusively for students of Croatian nationality

Students of Nikola Šop High School and Vocational High School in Jajce managed to stop divisions among them, after local authorities tried to establish a school for Bosniaks and a school for children of Croatian nationality. However, primary school students in Kiseljak did not manage to stop the divisions, reports the Patria News Agency.

In the Kiseljak settlement of Brestovsko, the Brestovsko Primary School was officially opened today, where classes will be conducted according to the Croatian curriculum and will be attended exclusively by students of Croatian nationality. Bosniak children remained in the building of the old school, in the same settlement, about 1.5 kilometers further away.

In Kiseljak, two schools previously functioned under one roof: one was named Kiseljak 1 Primary School, and the other Brestovsko Primary School. In the first, classes are conducted according to the Bosnian curriculum, and in the second, according to the Croatian curriculum. Given that the Supreme Court of FBiH had previously banned "two schools under one roof," the authorities did not try to create one school for all students, but instead physically separated the primary school students starting this year.

Starting this school year, students of Croatian nationality attend classes in the new school, located in the renovated former Community Center, while their Bosniak peers remained in the old school. The school was opened by the leader of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović.
