Sudden temperature rise in Croatia, possible floods

After Croatia was gripped by snow and ice for days, weather conditions during the weekend and early next week will change drastically, Croatian media report, Patria reports.

DHMZ has forecast mostly cloudy weather for today with occasional rain, which will be quite heavy in some places.

Namely, DHMZ has announced a temperature increase of several degrees for the weekend, so today and tomorrow the interior will measure around 7 degrees Celsius. Split will measure up to 16 degrees Celsius, and it will not be much different in the rest of Dalmatia. In Slavonski Brod, the temperature will rise to 10 degrees Celsius.

The beginning of the week inland brings even higher temperatures. Zagreb will measure up to 12 degrees Celsius on Monday, while on the coast the temperature will rise to 16 degrees Celsius.

This is a significant temperature change, given that in the days after New Year's, temperatures sometimes dropped to minus 11. Snow will melt rapidly in the coming days, and the southern wind and relentless rain are to blame for everything. All of this is a major prerequisite for rising rivers and possible floods.
