Legal battle for Husein Mujanović's freedom continues in Belgrade

A hearing began at the Court of Appeals in Belgrade regarding the appeal against the verdict for Husein Mujanović, a former member of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The prosecution is seeking an increase in the prison sentence from 10 to 15 years, while the defense is seeking Mujanović's acquittal or a retrial with the hearing of defense witnesses.

"It does not seem like a fair procedure if you have all the witnesses, and none of my 24 witnesses have been accepted. That is one problem. The second is the documentation that has been provided to us, and the third thing is that we have statements from some people who said one thing until 2018, and now something completely different regarding Mujanović," said Ignjatović.

He did not want to speculate on the timeline for a final decision.

In July last year, the Higher Court in Belgrade sentenced Husein Mujanović to 10 years in prison for war crimes, which were the claims of the prosecution and the court's assessment, reports Klix.ba.

Mujanović was convicted after spending two years in custody, and he was accused of war crimes against Serbs who were held in a wartime prison in Hrasnica near Sarajevo.
