Three indictments in Kosovo for attempting to join ISIS

The Kosovo Special Prosecution has filed indictments against three individuals accused of joining or participating in a foreign army, as announced by the Special Prosecution, writes Blic, reports Patria.

The accused T.I., I.Z., and N.Z. are suspected of attempting to join the terrorist organization Islamic State.

The investigation confirmed that these three individuals agreed to meet at the bus station in Pristina, with the intention of traveling to Skopje and from there to Turkey, or Syria, in order to join the terrorist organization IS.

The accused were stopped by Turkish authorities upon arriving at the airport in Istanbul and were returned via Macedonia back to Kosovo, where they were arrested by Kosovo police officers at the General Janković border crossing.

The indictment, as stated on the website of the Special Prosecution of Kosovo, was filed by a special prosecutor who proposed that the court find the accused guilty and punish them.

Out of Kosovo's 1.8 million inhabitants, around 300 have joined jihadists in Iraq and Syria in recent years, which is the highest percentage in Europe.

According to data from Kosovo authorities, about 50 Kosovo jihadists have been killed on the battlefields in Iraq and Syria, while 120 have returned to Kosovo.
