TRGOVSKA GORA: Košarac requested a meeting with representatives of the Slovenian Government regarding Trgovska Gora

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Staša Košarac requested the Ambassador of Slovenia to BiH Damijan Sedar to mediate in organizing a meeting with representatives of the Slovenian Government regarding the construction of the controversial landfill for radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel at Trgovska Gora in Croatia, where waste from the Krško Nuclear Power Plant is also to be disposed of.

Košarac informed Sedar that he recently discussed this issue with the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Robert Golob, during his official visit to BiH.

"I requested that the meeting be organized no later than May, so that together with the competent ministers from the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, as well as members of the legal and expert team, we can open a discussion with the representatives of the Slovenian Government. Our goal is to obtain the necessary information about the relationship between these countries when it comes to the disposal of waste from the Krško Nuclear Power Plant," stated Košarac.

He reiterated that there is a unified stance in BiH regarding the unacceptability of constructing the controversial landfill at Trgovska Gora, as it poses a direct threat to the health of 250,000 people in the municipalities along the Una River basin, and endangers the environment.
