Third entity introduced by ethnic voting and division of the Veterans Ministry into Croatian and Bosniak parts

Although many expected the confirmation of the formation of a new convocation of the FBiH Government yesterday, that unfortunately did not happen. Thus, the new SDA-HDZ-DF parliamentary majority has once again proven that it is not capable of forming a functional government, thereby bringing the citizens of FBiH into even greater political uncertainty, reports the Patria News Agency.

The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina considers it astonishing, and even somewhat surprising, that the coalition partners have not yet managed to agree on even elementary matters, such as the constitutional division of ministerial positions in the government. Without delving deeper into the relationships among the coalition partners, it is evident that there is insufficient mutual trust within that political alliance, and that individual parties are trying in every way to gain more than they are entitled to. The HDZ BiH is leading in this regard, continuing to insist on having an exclusive right to everything that has the prefix "Croatian" in the federal executive power, which its coalition partners naively allow.

Information that the coalition partners have agreed to introduce the model of ethnic voting in the FBiH Government and the division of the Ministry for Veterans and Disabled of the Defense-Liberation War into Bosniak and Croatian parts is particularly concerning for the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Such agreements are the de facto installation of a third entity into the legal order of FBiH and an unambiguous further fragmentation of BiH. The SDP will use all political mechanisms at its disposal to stop such moves by the future government, which would take BiH back 20 years.

The SDP specifically calls on HDZ officials to stop lying about the allegedly unconstitutional and illegal revision of beneficiaries of veteran benefits. The law according to which the revision is carried out was passed by the SDA-HDZ government, and the law was published with the signature of Borjana Krišto, the then President of FBiH.

However, earlier, but especially now, attempts are being skillfully made to attribute unconstitutional and illegal actions to the SDP, which is not true, because SDP cadres were merely implementing the law and revising veterans, and doing what the HDZ members intended to ignore, thereby leaving this law a dead letter on paper.

The evident lack of trust among coalition partners is the most significant indicator of the future (in)action of the new FBiH Government, and therefore, the question arises realistically as to how much time the new government will dedicate to solving citizens' problems, and how much to mutual disagreements and evident differences, and the further ethnic fragmentation of BiH society.

It is already evident that more time will be spent on mutual accusations and exchanges, and less on fulfilling the obligations from those four rarely signed documents, which the new ruling majority so proudly calls a program, it was announced from the SDP.
