Tomislav Nikolić sacrifices Serbia's future for his and his Russian like-minded allies' interests

The President of the Republic of Serbia did not need to travel all the way to Russia to send a message to the country he presides over. His statement today, that the dispute over Trepča "can end very badly because we are ready to respond in every way", is full of irresponsibility and once again proves that he introduces instability into Serbia's political life at all times, which is why it must be taken extremely seriously and with full attention. This is according to the president of the LDP, Čedomir Jovanović. 

Trepča is a large deposit of lead-zinc ore in Kosovo, which is the subject of dispute between the authorities in Belgrade and the authorities in Priština.

Jovanović says that Nikolić, for who knows what time, has taken a stance for which he easily gained Russia's support, and therefore deserves no support in Serbia, "given that he is clearly working directly against his own country". 

- With these statements, the President of Serbia is sending clear signals that he is not giving up on his Kosovo platform. We have waited for the text of the platform for years, and today we heard that his statement today is its only sentence – Jovanović wrote in his blog.

- Serbia's greatest interest is peace, and it is mentioned less and less. Themes of conflict and misunderstanding are becoming priorities in the program of government representatives, from Tomislav Nikolić to ministers and lower government officials. We emphasize that conducting foreign policy inevitably requires diplomatic intelligence and an awareness of the importance of personal morality, which obliges every politician, first and foremost, to protect Serbia's interests, instead of a constant struggle for narrow personal ones. Nikolić's desire and Russia's need to remain a political fact are becoming too great an obstacle for the entire society, which, because of this, cannot move forward, trapped in the Kosovo problem, parallel to the Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Croatian ones.

However, it is obvious that behind the alleged fight for the rights of Serbs, which is being waged from the highest state addresses in Serbia, it is actually about sacrificing Serbia's future in the name of Tomislav Nikolić's personal future and the policy of his Russian like-minded allies – Jovanović believes.

He says that if state unity is being discussed, "then that unity should be accompanied by balanced considerations that protect the interests of Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo, as well as the citizens of Serbia, at all times". Jovanović says that he "warns all those who support Serbia's thirty-year agony that they will resist, despite all manipulations and pressures". He says that Serbia will never agree to be a tool in the showdowns between Russia and the EU, reports NAP.
