(Patria) - After the frigate of the Royal Canadian Navy, His Majesty's Canadian Ship (HMCS) "Fredericton", sailed into the port of Split yesterday, today it was joined by the rest of the group of NATO ships from Standing NATO Maritime Group 2, except for the Turkish frigate "Barbaros", which are visiting this city from March 12 to 16.
Docked in the port are the command ship, the American destroyer "James E. Williams", the Greek frigate "Psara", and the Dutch frigate "De Zeven Provincien".
The group of mentioned NATO ships is commanded by Commodore Scott Sciretta, and during their stay, joint training at sea with members of the Croatian Navy is planned.
"Activities of international military cooperation are an opportunity for joint training, exchange of knowledge, skills and experiences with the aim of improving interoperability, and in addition to joint training, sports competitions are also planned," the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia stated for Slobodna Dalmacija.
Certainly, this presence of NATO can be interpreted as a kind of message to the biggest opponents of NATO in the region, primarily to the President of Republika Srpska and SNSD, Milorad Dodik, but also to the first man of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
