Meeting with Kurti: Erdogan supports Kosovo's membership in NATO, Council of Europe and EU

(Patria) - Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the support he provides to Kosovo for membership in NATO and the Council of Europe.

Kurti stated at a press conference that he also discussed with Erdogan the possibilities for economic and commercial cooperation, security and developments in the region and beyond.

"We are grateful for Turkey's role in NATO's intervention in Kosovo in 1999 to stop the genocide against the people of Kosovo, for its contribution to building institutions, declaring and recognizing independence, and its unwavering full support in foreign policy. I thanked him for his vocal support for membership in NATO and the Council of Europe," Kurti said.

According to him, today in Istanbul they discussed friendly relations and deepening cooperation. Erdogan promised support for Kosovo in joining the Council of Europe, the European Union and NATO.

Erdogan said that Turkey will support Kosovo to achieve, as he stated, its deserved position in the international arena, reminding that they are the second country to recognize Kosovo's independence.
