Mektić and Orepić Meet: BiH and Croatia Cooperation on Security and Counter-Terrorism

Croatian Minister of the Interior Vlaho Orepić is on an official visit to Sarajevo, where he met with BiH Minister of Security Dragan Mektić to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the field of security, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

Orepić said he came to "beautiful Sarajevo" and emphasized that security is an essential need for all people.

The two ministries will work on three aspects: organized crime, the migrant route, and border surveillance.

Mektić stated that he has repeatedly told Minister Orepić that security in BiH, despite everything we need to undertake within our country, also depends heavily on our relations with neighboring countries, primarily with the Republic of Croatia and Serbia.

- The political and security situation in BiH can be easily destabilized, primarily if an "unpleasant gesture" comes from Croatia and Serbia and is poorly conveyed here, destabilizing the political situation, and we spend a long time dealing with ourselves. That is why we have agreed to work on the basis of BiH's interests and jointly work on removing all security challenges, primarily those that could jeopardize our political relations and affect political destabilization - said Mektić.

It was also emphasized that the two countries will establish a bilateral form of cooperation for the exchange of intelligence information concerning the threat of terrorism, and joint teams will also be formed.
