(Patria) - In a serious traffic accident that occurred yesterday around 5:45 PM in the area of Lupoglav, two people died, the Istria Police Department reports.
The accident happened when an unknown driver was driving a car with Pula license plates on a local road from the settlement of Brest pod Učkom towards Lupoglav.
Upon reaching a flat section where the road descends, the driver crossed to the left side and hit a tree on the left edge of the roadway. After the car bounced off the tree, it slid down a slope and caught fire.
The vehicle was completely burned, and the bodies of two dead people were found inside.
"Police officers conducted an investigation, and the competent state attorney ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death, as well as an expert examination of the vehicle.
The police continue to determine the circumstances of the accident and take actions to identify the persons found in the vehicle," the police stated.
