Stoltenberg: NATO forces monitoring the situation in Kosovo

(Patria) - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in an interview for France24 television, among other topics, also commented on the developments in Kosovo and the entire region.

He told Kosovo and Serbia to refrain from statements and moves that could contribute to conflicts and called on them not to allow an escalation of the conflict.

„NATO is very focused on the issue of Kosovo, as well as the Western Balkans. We have a long history, we helped end two ethnic wars, first in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and later in Kosovo. Our forces are still present there through NATO forces, that is, KFOR, which numbers nearly 4,000 members and is a key factor in stabilizing the region and the situation,“ Stoltenberg stated.

„Our forces are ready, capable and vigilant. They are monitoring the situation very carefully. NATO forces and the EU are working closely together, and my message to all parties is to refrain from rhetoric that contributes to
escalation of the conflict and to help lower tensions,“ said the NATO Secretary General.
