(Patria) - As long as the state bodies and institutions of Croatia do not distance themselves from the anti-civilizational statements of President Zoran Milanović, as long as the bodies and institutions of Croatia do not condemn his shameful denial of the genocide in Srebrenica, as long as Croatian intellectuals and academics remain silent on this matter, we consider Milanović's stance to be Croatia's stance, according to the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada.
"Thus, Croatia joins Serbia and Russia in denying the genocide in Srebrenica. The silence of the European Union, the United Nations, the USA and Canada on this inhumane act is also shameful.
The conscious and deliberate, public denial of the genocide in Srebrenica, which has been established by final verdicts of international and national courts, causes pain to the surviving victims of the genocide, degrades the judicial, scientific and historical truth about the genocide, belittles justice, and humiliates international law and international institutions.
The implications of the President of Croatia, a member of NATO and the EU, publicly denying genocide in the current political climate of the Western Balkans and Europe as a whole cannot be ignored. In this period of instability in the wider region, the fact that these statements are not isolated incidents and represent a long history of such statements is particularly concerning. The humiliation of the brave Mothers of Srebrenica, the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bosniaks as a people is particularly concerning. Regarding these humiliations and the denial of the genocide in Srebrenica, the IGK has informed the European Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović and expressed support for the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to investigate the criminal complaint against Milanović, the denier of the genocide in Srebrenica. The IGK has also informed the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, by letter and requested an active stance towards the dehumanizing statements of the President of Croatia," stated the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada {IGK}.
