The AS Roma player continued with what led him to leave the Serbian national team. Although singing the anthem is not mandatory, all other national team players were up to the task, writes Telegraf.rs, reports the Patria News Agency.
Siniša Mihajlović removed him from the national team because of this, but Radovan Ćurčić is apparently not bothered by it – Adem Ljajić was the only one who did not sing the anthem "Bože pravde" in Lisbon.
The AS Roma midfielder once caused a great public stir by refusing to sing the Serbian anthem. It was precisely because of this that he was not a member of the national team, after a conflict with Mihajlović. However, the new coach is not bothered by this, even though all other national team players sang in unison.
"If 40,000 people sing the anthem, I don't know why footballers shouldn't, who should be proud and honored to represent their people and country," Mihajlović said at the time, while Ljajić was more direct:
"From a young age, I played for my country's national team, in the youth categories, no one ever asked me to sing the anthem. Serbia is a country for us Muslims too. If that's the condition, I certainly won't play for the Eagles anymore."
The young footballer played for just over an hour against Portugal and was one of Serbia's better players on the field.
