Serbian fans announced revenge: Group founded on Facebook, calling for persecution of Muslims

The murder of a Red Star Serbian fan, which occurred on Friday evening in Istanbul, Turkey, could greatly endanger Turks living in Serbia, as well as other followers of the Islamic faith.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia told the BH news agency Patria that the police know nothing about the organization of revenge due to the death of the Serbian fan, despite the fact that hooligans have been calling for the murder of Turkish citizens in Serbia, the persecution of Bosniaks, and the burning of mosques on the social network Facebook since last night.

Red Star basketball club fan Marko Ivković (25) died in Istanbul from stab wounds after being attacked by a fan of the opposing Galatasaray (?). Unofficial reports suggest that Ivković and his group could not enter the hall where the match was being played, after which they started smashing shop windows around the hall. Soon after, they clashed with Galatasaray fans, after which one of them stabbed him with a knife, from which the unfortunate young man died.

According to the latest media reports in Turkey, it is most likely that the clash between Red Star and Galatasaray fans did not happen at all, but rather that Serbian and Albanian fans clashed.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoğlu, called the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, by phone on Saturday and expressed his condolences to the Serbian Prime Minister on the occasion of Ivković's murder, and announced a detailed investigation into the entire event.

Serbian Consul Zoran Marković told Beta earlier that Turkish doctors fought "like lions" for Ivković's life.

However, all this is not enough to calm the passions and prevent further bloodshed, and to leave it to the Turkish prosecution and courts to find and punish the perpetrators of the crime.

A group called "Marko Ivković" was founded on Facebook, which reads "They owe us! If they can kill our fans, we can too!"

The second Facebook group, "Marko Ivković - Rest in Peace," attracted nearly 4,000 users in just 14 hours, many of whom are calling for revenge, murders, burning, and destruction of everything related to Turks and Islam.

Serbian media have learned that a preliminary agreement has been made between Red Star and Olympiacos fans to return to Turkey together in the last round of the Euroleague, which is played in mid-December, to avenge Ivković, reports NAP.
