(Patria) - 157 police officers in Serbia have been infected with the coronavirus, and four have died, said Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojša Stefanović.
Stefanović pointed out that the vast majority of Serbian citizens respect the isolation measures, but that some violate these measures expecting the police not to catch them, and stated that during the weekend, during the movement ban, about 800 people were found on the streets without permits.
The Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs called on citizens to report to the police if they have knowledge of closed-type parties, gatherings in houses and parks.
- Now we have significant support from citizens who regularly report such events, and the police arrive within minutes. All those who dare to throw house parties will be arrested. It is abnormal to do that because someone will get infected that way and may die - said Stefanović for Radio-Television of Serbia.
He pointed out that the police maintain law and order even in the emergency situation and that the crime rate in Serbia has dropped by 55 percent.
