Serbia vaccinated 1,200,000 citizens, 400,000 received the second dose

(Patria) - A plane with another 50,000 doses of the "Sputnik" vaccine landed at Belgrade's "Nikola Tesla" Airport, the Ministry of Innovation and Technological Development announced.

According to the Minister of Innovation, Nenad Popović, the first component of the "Sputnik V" vaccine arrived, which will be used to vaccinate 50,000 people.

Popović stated that the vaccines arrived from the "Biokad" factory in Saint Petersburg, where a production line for the "Sputnik" vaccine was launched two months ago in the presence of the Russian state leadership.

"Serbia remains the only country in Europe for which Russian authorities have approved the delivery of a significant quantity of vaccines. This speaks to the relationship Russia has with its Serbian brothers. The vaccination process in Serbia, carried out under the leadership of President Vučić, is being followed with attention and praise in Russia," said Popović.

He expressed satisfaction that the delivery of vaccines from Russia is proceeding according to the agreed schedule.

"We have contracted the procurement of two million vaccines from Russia. I expect that by the end of March, or during the first half of April, the entire contracted quantity of vaccines will be delivered to Serbia," said Popović.

The minister emphasized that the vaccines that arrived in Belgrade this morning will be immediately transported to the Torlak Institute, from where they will be distributed to vaccination points throughout Serbia.

More than 1,200,000 citizens have been vaccinated in Serbia, and more than 400,000 people have received their second dose. Despite the vaccination, the number of people infected with Covid has also increased in Serbia.
