(Patria) - Serbia is once again the only EU candidate country in the Western Balkans that has not aligned with the new foreign policy decision of the Council of the EU concerning "restrictive measures imposed against individuals, entities and bodies due to serious abuses and violations of human rights".
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, announced that the Council of the EU adopted decision (CFSP) 2023/1716 on September 8, adding six individuals to the list of individuals, entities and bodies subject to restrictive measures adopted by the earlier decision (CFSP) 2020/1999.
All other EU candidate countries in the Western Balkans - North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina - have aligned with the new decision of the Council of the EU, and will ensure that their national policies are in line with it, and the EU takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
