Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina agreed on joint maintenance of 11 bridges

The authorities of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have agreed to jointly maintain 11 bridges connecting the two countries, it was announced from the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, reports Patria.

This is the first concrete agreement following the meeting between the Prime Minister of the Government of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, at the end of January, and an agreement on the maintenance of these bridges will be signed soon.
 
- There are bridges on the border between Serbia and BiH on three border rivers: Sava, Uvac, and Drina. It was agreed that Serbia will maintain six bridges on the Drina, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will maintain five bridges, two of which are over the Sava and three over the Uvac - said Miodrag Poleđica, secretary of the Serbian ministry. 

In the last 20 or more years, there has been no systematic attention paid to bridge maintenance, which is why the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlović, and the Minister of Communications and Transport in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ismir Jusko, agreed to form a joint working group for the division of responsibilities for the maintenance and reconstruction of bridges between the two countries.
 
- The meeting of the delegations of Serbia and BiH held yesterday in Belgrade followed just two weeks after Zvizdić's visit to Belgrade, when Deputy Prime Minister Mihajlović and Minister Jusko agreed to form a special working group for this issue - said Poleđica.
 
The text of the agreement on the construction and opening of a joint border crossing in Bratunac has also been harmonized, which will be established within the framework of the project for the construction of the bridge between Ljubovija and Bratunac.

The joint border crossing will simplify procedures at the border crossing and maximally shorten the waiting time for passengers and goods.
