SARAJEVO, (Patria) - EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell, regarding tensions in Kosovo, stated that the EU will not tolerate attacks on Eulex and that the barricades in northern Kosovo must be removed.
"The EU will not tolerate attacks on Eulex or the use of violent, criminal actions in the north. Groups of Kosovo Serbs must immediately remove the barricades. Peace must be restored,” Borrell emphasized.
The Institute for Geopolitics, Economy and Security (IGES) has warned repeatedly that the fundamental problem of instability in the Balkans is the tolerance of the anti-European policy of the regime from Belgrade. By destabilizing Kosovo, Serbia maintains tension throughout the region in an attempt to obtain compensation for the loss of Kosovo at the expense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At a certain point, Serbia will demand concessions in BiH which will, if nothing else, further strengthen the position of the BiH entity RS. All pro-Bosnian politicians should be aware of this, IGES states.
"Assessments in certain circles of the international community that by yielding to the Belgrade regime they will bring Serbia closer to Euro-Atlantic integration are completely wrong. If Europe does not show determination and clearly identify the real culprit for the destabilization of the Balkans, then it itself contributes to the undermining of overall European security," IGES believes.
