
An earthquake has again hit central Italy. According to EMSC, the earthquake that hit Italy this morning was 6.6 on the Richter scale. Corriere writes it was 7.1, as reported by the American geological service USGS, which later revised that data. The earthquake caused panic due to its long duration and mass evacuation of residents to the streets, and some telephone lines are down, reports the Italian news agency Ansa, according to Patria.
It was also felt in Croatia. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre published on its website that it was an earthquake of magnitude 6.7 that hit central Italy at 7:40 AM and was felt in northern and southern Italy as well as in neighboring countries Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and later corrected the magnitude to 6.5.
The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, 68 kilometers southeast of Perugia, between Perugia and Macerata in the town of Norcia. The Italian news agency states that there is no data yet on casualties and damage, writes Index.
