De-escalation of tensions: Serbian Minister of Defence stated that the region should not fear Serbia

Serbia is militarily neutral and wants to be part of the European Union, claim Belgrade authorities. However, at the same time, they are not wasting time equipping and arming their army, reported HRT. Serbian Minister of Defence Zoran Đorđević commented on what they will buy or receive as donations from major powers and whether the region should fear because of it.

Serbia is buying nine state-of-the-art medium-class helicopters from Airbus, receiving a donation of MiG-29s and BUK anti-aircraft systems from Belarus, and gifts from the West are also arriving.

- We received a donation of 40 Humvees from the United States of America, valued at 7.5 million dollars. These are new Humvees – said the Serbian Minister of Defence.

Russia, on the other hand, is donating 30 T-72 tanks and six MiG-29s from its fighter squadron to Serbia. However, these MiGs will cost something. Four that are already in service and 6 donated aircraft will undergo overhaul.

- However, Croatia should not fear any of this, says the Serbian Minister of Defence, adding that he wants the entire region to recognize Serbia as an economic partner, reports NAP. Đorđević offered cooperation in the field of the military industry.
