Slovenian media accuse Croatia of illegal wiretapping

LJUBLJANA, (Patria) - The head of the cabinet of the director of the Security and Intelligence Agency (SOA) of the Republic of Croatia, Davor Franić, is, according to Slovenian media reports, the main actor in the wiretapping affair of Slovenian officials involved in the arbitration over the Bay of Piran, which shook the region in the summer of 2015.

According to the Slovenian newspaper Delo, Davor Franić, whom Slovenian media report is also known as "mechanic Davor", played a key role in the wiretapping of Slovenian officials.

The same SOA official is also mentioned in the affair in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to which SOA members recruited Salafists to transport weapons into Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to label BiH as a "terrorist stronghold", as earlier hinted by Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office today suspended the investigation against several persons involved in the "Salafist" affair.

BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektić said he did not expect a different decision from the BiH Prosecutor's Office, which decided not to conduct an investigation into the "Salafist" affair.

"The BiH Prosecutor's Office's motive was to open an investigation in order to do all this and cover it up. The prosecutor (Gordana Tadić) led the investigation against her close relatives involved in this affair, and that is why she did everything so quickly and urgently," accused Dragan Mektić.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office issued an Order not to conduct an investigation against Krešić Mijo, Deputy Minister of Security of BiH, Đaković Mate, a journalist, and Bandić Ivan, Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in BiH at the Consulate in Tuzla, whom the media had earlier linked to intelligence activities in BiH.
