Slovenians return Christmas gift to Croatia

The Croatian Ministry sent its Slovenian counterparts - several employees in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the cabinet of Prime Minister Miro Cerar and President Borut Pahor - a New Year's gift in the form of a box of chocolates.

However, Slovenian politicians were not very happy, writes Dnevnik.si, as reported by Jutarnji. According to sources, this act was considered an unimaginable provocation.

Namely, the chocolates were from Kraš and had the inscription 'Greetings from Croatia'. The box featured a partially visible map of Croatia, but when the lid was lifted, the rest of the map was revealed, showing the border between Slovenia and Croatia drawn down the middle of the Bay of Piran.

Since the border between the two countries has not yet been determined, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs returned the box of chocolates to the Croatian embassy - in a bag with the inscription 'I Feel Slovenia'.

Slovenian diplomats did not want to comment on the case so as not to worsen relations between the two countries, but some sources for Dnevnik.si wonder how other European Union member states will assess this Croatian provocation while awaiting the decision of the Arbitration Court, reports NAP.
