Serbian Parliament Adopts Report on Kosovo Negotiations

(Patria) - Members of the Serbian Parliament adopted the Serbian Government's report on Kosovo negotiations from September 2022 to mid-January 2023 by a majority of votes. Out of 186 MPs present, 153 voted for the Government's report, 23 against, and nine MPs abstained.

This concluded the two-day parliamentary debate on the report on negotiations with Pristina.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, presenting the report on Thursday, said the goal was an open discussion about the challenges facing the country, not shifting responsibility.

Yesterday's debate was marked by sharp verbal clashes and mutual accusations, and the session was at one point on the verge of a more serious physical altercation between MPs from the ruling party and a part of the opposition, which remained at verbal insults and shoving.

Yesterday, Vučić did not present the entire Franco-German plan for Kosovo. Instead, he said he would talk about the worst points of that agreement. He also said there were some good points, but that no one guarantees Serbia a "carrot."

Vučić told Dveri leader Boško Obradović that he was ready to receive him and his coalition partners and present the Franco-German proposal for Kosovo, on the condition that they do not disclose it to the public.

Obradović accepted the invitation to see what kind of Western ultimatum it was, because "people have no trust in the government after everything."

Vučić also stated that Kurti does not want to form the Community of Serb Municipalities in advance, and that the Kosovo Prime Minister would want the CSM to be formed when they are admitted to the United Nations.
