Serbian Parliament: Resolution on the Condemnation of Genocide in Srebrenica Proposed

Parliamentary groups Liberal Democratic Party - Party of Democratic Action of Sandžak and League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina - Green Party, i.e., 11 MPs, signed and submitted to the parliamentary procedure a Proposal for a Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica for adoption under an urgent procedure, reports the BH news agency Patria.

The resolution most strongly condemns the genocide in Srebrenica, as well as any denial of genocide.

July 11 is declared the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica, and sympathy is expressed for all victims in the wars in the former Yugoslavia, as well as for their families, and all neighboring countries are called upon to continue to ensure justice and long-term support for survivors, including, where necessary, those who were victims of sexual violence, the text of the proposal states.

The state's determination to prevent genocide and other serious crimes is confirmed, and the positions of the final document of the 2005 World Summit and the responsibility to protect the population from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity are reaffirmed.

The proposal for a resolution supports efforts to investigate and prosecute those accused of genocide in Srebrenica, and commits to using all available means and mechanisms to conduct investigations and prosecute all those responsible.

The essential significance of reconciliation, based on dialogue, confronting the past, and commitment to justice and support for victims, is emphasized as a basis for strengthening security, stability, and prosperity in the region.

The resolution was signed by MPs Sulejman Ugljanin, Enis Imamović, Čedomir Jovanović, Žarko Korać, Nataša Mićić, Nenad Milić, Nenad Čanak, Goran Čabradi, Olena Papuga, Marinika Tepić, and Nada Lazić.
