Trade Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of FBiH: Slow and Insufficient Testing

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Union of Professional Trade Unions of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a press release, points out that in the current coronavirus epidemic in BiH, testing for the virus is slow and insufficient.

The Trade Union once again appeals to the authorities to intensify all aspects of the fight against the epidemic, which threatens to completely and permanently disrupt the health system of the Federation and the state of BiH, it was announced from the trade union, noting that doctors are making this appeal on the occasion of the Covid-19 pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which the whole world has been fighting for the third month.

"This is not enough so far, and we doctors witness it every day. We do not have adequate protective equipment, or at least most of us do not. We are exposed in the fight against the infection without basic protective equipment, while the state reacts too slowly and partially. We are forced to organize ourselves as a trade union and procure the necessary protective equipment through our own channels. All this three weeks after the World Health Organization declared a pandemic and two weeks after FBiH declared emergency measures," the Trade Union states.

They also emphasize that this pandemic, like any past and future one, can only be overcome in one way: by testing individuals, then isolating positive individuals, and limiting the number of infected people until the complete cessation of the pandemic.
