SDP BiH: We call on EU institutions to condemn statements by the Croatian President

The Social Democratic Party of BiH calls on the President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, to stop making untrue and offensive claims about the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The statement by the president of the neighboring country about the alleged threat of militant Islam from Bosnia and Herzegovina is unacceptable and actually insolent, the SDP BiH announced.

"The only political factor in the interstate relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia with a militant background is the HDZ, the party from which Ms. Grabar-Kitarović comes. This is a political entity for which it has been judicially confirmed to have contributed to and participated in the Joint Criminal Enterprise on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Instead of apologizing to the victims and compensating for war damages, Grabar-Kitarović and her party colleagues glorify criminals, visit them in prisons, and try to justify crimes with the alleged phantom threat of militant Islam. It is particularly offensive that Ms. Grabar-Kitarović is sending messages from Israel, given that genocide in Europe in the past century was committed precisely against two peoples, Jews and Bosnian Muslims. Instead of Croatia seeking ways to help heal the wounds of the past and ensure that victims on all sides receive deserved respect and protection, Ms. Grabar-Kitarović is clearly intentionally reviving prejudices and falsifying facts," the SDP stated.

These actions revive war ideologies, and the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are clearly being deliberately presented as a threat and enemies not only to their neighbors but also to each other.

"We call on the EU institutions, as well as all domestic legal actors, including international institutions, to condemn the actions of the Republic of Croatia, which must finally bear concrete political consequences for its militant and hostile actions and attitudes towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. We hope that Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović's statement is not just an introduction to an attempt to justify the creation of a radioactive waste repository in Trgovska Gora, on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. At this moment, only the statements and actions of the HDZ leadership of Croatia, led by Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, are more toxic to Bosnia and Herzegovina than the mentioned repository," the SDP concluded.
