SDA: Lawsuit against Serbia is not directed against any nation, we want to speed up the reconciliation process

Members of the SDA Collegium welcomed the decision of the Initiative for Stolac to invite all citizens of Stolac to go to the polls, the party announced, reports NAP.

A session of the SDA Collegium was held in Sarajevo tonight, discussing the review of Bosnia and Herzegovina's lawsuit against Serbia, the political crisis in the country, the repeated elections in Stolac, as well as the arrest of the party's secretary, Amir Zukić.

The SDA congratulated the Initiative for Stolac on its electoral result, stating that despite a series of irregularities and injustices committed by the Central Election Commission, it showed that Stolac is not a space for only one nation, but a city where Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks, and Others should live equally.

- We stand by our earlier claims that the Central Election Commission made a series of serious mistakes, such as removing the candidate of the Initiative for Stolac for the Mayor of the Municipality from the list before the Court's decision, thereby assuming the role of a judge. It is particularly unbelievable that the CEC punished not only the candidate in this way but also a group of political parties that participated in the elections as a coalition - the SDA stated.

Commenting on the review of the judgment of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia for genocide, the SDA Collegium welcomed the fact that the authorized agent of Bosnia and Herzegovina before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, based on the expert opinion of a team of eminent international law experts, decided to file a request for a review of the judgment in the lawsuit of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia.

- We expect the International Court of Justice in The Hague to accept this request and that in the end, a judgment will be rendered that reflects the real situation of what happened during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. We believe that the existence of genocide throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be established, as well as the responsibility of Serbia, i.e., the then Milošević regime - the SDA stated.

- We call on all actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region to view this issue exclusively as a legal one, not directed against any nation. In addition to being an obligation to the victims, it is also a solid basis for accelerating the process of reconciliation and future cooperation in the region - the SDA continued in the statement.

Commenting on the arrest of the SDA Secretary General Amir Zukić, the SDA stated that they expect law enforcement agencies, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Court to do their job professionally, objectively, and impartially in accordance with the Constitution and the law.

- The SDA reminds of the importance of the presumption of innocence, according to which no one is guilty until proven otherwise. We hope that Amir Zukić will succeed in proving his innocence during the proceedings - concluded the SDA, reports Patria.
