Šarović: Progress in negotiations with Croatia

The measures taken by Croatia are completely unacceptable for BiH and we demand their abolition, confirmed today Mirko Šarović, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in an interview with N1.

He said that he communicated with the Croatian Minister of Agriculture, Tomislav Tolušić, several times today and that some progress has been made in the negotiations. However, a final agreement has not yet been reached.

- I can tell you that after we debated this morning whether to meet in Zagreb, Dubrovnik, or Podgorica, I took the responsibility to communicate with Tolušić during the day and to reach a joint agreement on their new fees and on the very place where we will meet. We spoke at least 4-5 times and I probably will again during the day. I can say, but this is just my impression, that we have made progress and that the Croatian side is willing to correct the regulation and that it is in mutual interest - said Šarović.

He added that the talks will continue by the end of the day and that the key issue remains unresolved - to what level the fees will be reduced. They were increased from 12 euros to 90 euros.

- The agreement on the amount of the fee per truck remains. I hope for some compromise. That is what remains unresolved - to what level the fees will be reduced. My impression is that in the shadow of these exchanges, we are negotiating during the day and perhaps it will bear fruit - he said in the interview.

We remind you that, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Šarović, Rasim Ljajić, Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications of Serbia, Dragica Sekulić, Minister of Economy of Montenegro, and Ljupčo Nikolovski, Minister of Agriculture in the Government of Macedonia, arrived in Sarajevo yesterday.

A meeting of the competent ministers from the region was held on the occasion of the entry into force of the Regulation on inspection supervision and control of the conformity of fruits and vegetables with market standards in the Republic of Croatia.
