US requested extradition of suspects for terrorism in northern Kosovo

(Patria) - The United States of America requested the extradition of suspects for terrorism in the Banjska case.

This was stated by the Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations, Robert Wood.

“The US condemns the attack of September 24. It was an act that endangered the lives of Kosovo citizens. There should be full accountability based on the law,” said Wood.

Wood said that the United States is closely cooperating with the EU and NATO on de-escalating the situation.

“We continue to support dialogue as the best way for Kosovo and Serbia to reconcile,” he said. He also emphasized that the US welcomes the increase in KFOR presence in the north.

“This presence will be maintained for as long as necessary,” said the deputy US representative to the UN.

Police officer Afrim Bunjaku died in the terrorist attack on September 24. The response of the Kosovo authorities was immediate. The police managed to eliminate three members of the Serbian terrorist group. Three more individuals from the same group were arrested.
