Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Belgrade today

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will be on a bilateral visit to Serbia today, during which he will talk with the highest Serbian officials, while tomorrow he will attend the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, Serbian media report, Patria reports.

The agenda will include bilateral relations between Russia and Serbia, regional issues, and the global situation.

Upon arrival in Belgrade today, Lavrov will be welcomed by Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, and will then meet with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić and Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić.

Prime Minister Vučić stated yesterday that he expects a serious and open discussion on the topics of political, economic, and military-economic cooperation.

He also said that Petrohemija and the payment of outstanding debts should also be a topic of discussion with Lavrov.

Dačić said before the visit that Lavrov's arrival in Belgrade is of exceptional political importance, expressing the expectation that it will be one step further in the development of relations between the two countries.

He told reporters that there are no open issues between Serbia and Russia, and that Russia attaches great importance to relations with Serbia, which he says are very good and characterized by a high level of mutual trust, friendship, and support when it comes to the most important political issues on the international political scene.
