RS institutionally glorifies genocide, while in Croatia genocide against Serbs, Roma and Jews is denied

(Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić met in New York with Adama Dieng, the UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide. The interlocutors discussed the importance of the project for the prevention of genocide. They agreed that any denial of genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the crimes that occurred during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina is unacceptable.

Dieng said that he has visited Bosnia and Herzegovina and Srebrenica on several occasions, where he gained a complete picture of what happened in our region, with the aim of carrying out further activities on genocide prevention. He believes that intensive meetings of regional leaders, along with sincere dialogue about the past and without denial of facts, are a prerequisite for lasting reconciliation and stability.

Chairman Komšić highlighted the absurd fact that, with astonishing persistence, even today the entity of Republika Srpska institutionally denies the genocide committed against Bosniaks in Srebrenica and the Podrinje region, and that, primarily in neighboring Croatia, through public and political activities of individuals, the crime of genocide against Serbs, Roma, and Jews during World War II within the quisling entity of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) is denied.

"After the genocide is committed, denial and non-acceptance begin, and eventually, the glorification of the genocide and its perpetrators follows. One genocide does not diminish or relativize another," Chairman Komšić believes.

He is of the opinion that the genocide prevention project must have a specific approach for each region, and that one must not fall into the trap of a superficial and template-based approach.

Chairman Komšić finally emphasized that hatred leads nowhere, and that together, through positive dialogue, we should build a future for generations to come. Chairman Komšić invited UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Adama Dieng to attend the Commemoration and marking of the 25th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina next year.
