
(Patria) - A 62-year-old man was killed last night on the Rijeka bypass while standing behind his broken-down car.
He was hit by a car driven by a 36-year-old driver, as established by the investigation, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department announced today.
The accident occurred around 8 p.m. at the Draga interchange.
According to what has been established so far, the 62-year-old driver stopped his car in the far right lane, and was hit by the 36-year-old driver who was driving at an inappropriate speed.
After hitting the 62-year-old, he also struck the stopped car. The 62-year-old man died at the scene of the accident, and a minor female passenger who was in the stopped car was seriously injured and is being treated at the Rijeka Clinical Hospital Center.
From the moment of the accident, traffic was interrupted until 8:20 p.m., when it was redirected from the Draga interchange towards Rijeka. Traffic was fully restored at 10:14 p.m., the police announced.
