(Patria) - Advertisements on buses and trams will soon be a thing of the past, we are returning them to their blue color. This is visual pollution and we will not allow the city to turn into a shopping center.
This was announced yesterday by the Mayor of Zagreb, Tomislav Tomašević, adding that upon taking office in the City of Zagreb, they found a series of unfavorable contracts, and that the intermediary between advertisers and ZET was a private company that paid four million kuna annually for this service.
Tomašević announced the removal of advertisements from trams a year ago, but now he has made a decision and said that advertisements contracted in the next three months will be displayed on trams, after which they will be completely removed.
It is known that the contract with ZET was held by the company Info Media Group d.o.o., whose director announced a lawsuit in Jutarnji list in October last year in case of contract termination.
In Zagreb, by the way, there is complete chaos in the public advertising segment, and all possible forms of outdoor advertising are displayed throughout the city without order, taste, or rules, it seems, writes Jutarnji list.
From whatever aspect, experts say, this situation is viewed, from traffic safety, through pollution, to the visual identity of the city, it is in chaos, and we are not even going into how much the City of Zagreb and its company Zagreb plakat are losing due to illegal advertising.
The mayor himself announced in March the removal of illegally placed posters, which has obviously only now come on the agenda.
