Debate lasted all night: Government of Montenegro elected, Spajić new Prime Minister

(Patria) - After a debate that lasted all night, MPs of the Montenegrin parliament elected the 44th Government this morning at 7 AM, and the new Prime Minister is PES leader Milojko Spajić.

46 MPs voted for the Government, 19 were against, and one abstained. During the vote, MPs Radinka Ćinćur and Jevrosima Pejović, as well as MPs from GP URA and the Bosniak Party BS, were not present in the hall. Although Spajić was expected to present his exposé, he did not, stating that the exposé had already been published and there was no need to do so, and only announced the proposed candidates for the composition of the 44th Government. MPs from both the ruling and opposition parties criticized this, assessing that Spajić had violated the Constitution by doing so.

The beginning of the session was marked by a heated debate between Spajić and the outgoing Prime Minister Dritan Abazović. During the debate, a number of remarks were made about Spajić's exposé. The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, also attended the parliamentary session, writes CdM.

Two items were on the agenda: Election of the President and members of the 44th Government of Montenegro; and Elections, appointments, and dismissals.

Milojko Spajić's Government will have five deputy prime ministers and 19 ministries. Officials of the new Government will be members of Europe Now, Democrats, the Socialist People's Party, the Albanian Forum, the Albanian Alliance, and CIVIS, and it will be reconstructed in a year so that ministers and one deputy prime minister position are also held by representatives of the "For the Future of Montenegro" coalition.
