Aluminij workers blocked traffic, calling on Croatian politicians from the government to address them

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Workers of Aluminij Mostar blocked traffic on the M-17 main road near the city on the Neretva river today.

With the workers on the road are the director of Aluminij, Dražen Pandža, and the executive director for technical affairs and development, Boris Vican, who last week informed the public that the company is shutting down due to the inability to find a solution regarding electricity supply, N1 reports.

The director of Aluminij stated that the deadline for salvation is today at 14:01.

We remind you that yesterday, the negotiations between the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the potential strategic partner for Aluminij, the Swiss company Glencore, officially failed, as Glencore withdrew from the conditions it had initially imposed.

"They also problematized the letter they sent to the Government themselves. They withdrew from the negotiations, and I believe that is unprofessional. As a government, we will continue to provide support to the workers on behalf of the 44 percent stake. The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the relevant ministry will continue to seek a strategic partner, which is a condition for the company not to go bankrupt," said the relevant minister in the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Džindić, yesterday.

Pandža said yesterday that if nothing changes, Aluminij will cease operations at the first minute of Wednesday.

The workers called on Croatian politicians to come and address the gathering. They announced that otherwise, they will go to the institutions where Croats have the main say.
