Putin's 'Night Wolves' to Pass Through Serbia on Their Way to Berlin

(Patria) - The motorcycle club close to the Kremlin, the "Night Wolves," has announced that it will pass through Serbia in early May as part of its journey planned to end in Berlin.

The bikers of the motorcycle club, which is under EU and US sanctions, started on April 29 on a journey called "Roads of Victory," during which they plan to pass through several cities in Russia and Ukraine, and then continue their ride through Europe and end it in Germany.

The motorcycle club, as well as its founder and leader Aleksandar Zaldostanov, better known as "The Surgeon," were added to the EU sanctions list in July 2022 for supporting the invasion of Ukraine. The US placed the motorcycle club on its sanctions list in December 2014.

Serbia has not aligned with European sanctions against Russia, nor does it apply US sanctions.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia was not available for urgent comment on whether it will allow the "Night Wolves" to enter Serbia and pass through the country.

The information that Serbia is on the motorcycle club's route was published on social media by the leader of the motorcycle marathon and member of the motorcycle club, Andrei Bobrovski.

As seen in the post, it is planned that on May 2, as part of the third phase called "Europe - Balkans," the club will start from Pirot, in southeastern Serbia.

Pirot is located 30 kilometers from the border with Bulgaria, which is an EU member and applies European sanctions.

The motorcycle club has not publicly announced whether participants will attempt to enter Serbia from Bulgaria. RSE sent an inquiry to the motorcycle club, but responses did not arrive before the publication of this text.

It is also not known which country is planned for the bikers after Serbia.

The bikers previously announced that they plan to reach the city of Volgograd, formerly Stalingrad, the site of the bloody battle between Soviet and German Nazi troops that marked a turning point in World War II, by May 1.

The bikers will continue their journey towards the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, the scene of heavy fighting, where, they state, they will distribute humanitarian aid to civilians and Russian soldiers.

Aleksandr Zaldostanov, who describes himself as a friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin, received a medal from the President of Russia for the role the bikers played in Crimea in 2014.

Members of the "Night Wolves" have also participated in pro-Russia rallies across the Balkans.
