(Patria) - Croatian police confirmed a shooting in the border area with BiH and stated that the incident occurred after a group of migrants was prevented from entering Croatia.
"We note that none of the police officers were injured," the police added.
The BiH police were also informed about the incident, but have not commented on the armed incident.
The police also revealed that this is not the first time their officers have witnessed shootings in the BiH area, given that, as they explain, it is a forest area where criminal offenses such as poaching or timber theft are recorded.
"However, recently we have also noticed a certain nervousness among smugglers and migrants on the other side of the border, because due to the impossibility of illegally crossing the state border, there are conflicts among them," stated the Croatian Ministry of Interior.
They emphasize that in just eight months of this year, 284 migrant smugglers have been reported.
