Protest in Belgrade: We will oust Vučić just as we did his political grandfather Milošević

BELGRADE, (Patria) - The protest "One in Five Million", which began on the Plateau in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, ended in front of the building of the Government of Serbia. In front of the RTS building, the "Diary of a Free Serbia" was read. The protest ended with an announcement that next Saturday citizens will walk from the Government building to Pink television. Citizens were invited to the "big march" to Pink by actor and Democratic Party official Branislav Lečić.

He said that the owner of Pink television, Željko Mitrović, invited him to appear as a guest to initiate "Utisak nedelje" and that he is now sending him a response: "I am not appearing on Pink, but I will come with all of you."

The organizers of the protest "One in Five Million" called on citizens to join them next Saturday, at the big student march at 4 PM, from Studentski Grad in New Belgrade towards the Government.

"The walk is initiated by students, but all people are welcome," the organizers said, adding that this also celebrates Student Day, April 4.

The gathered citizens carried Serbian flags and banners, including "Faculty of Philosophy - History", "Post Office - to postmen, parties - to politicians", "We don't need PUPS members, we need experts."

A petition by the Military Union of Serbia was being signed, demanding "the annulment of Vulin's (Minister of Defense Aleksandar) illegal acts." Among the gathered citizens were also the leader of the Dveri movement Boško Obradović and the leader of the People's Party Vuk Jeremić, due to whom those gathered even expressed dissatisfaction.

The protest march began after addresses by historian Čedomir Antić, one of the organizers Miodrag Simović, and arrested FPN student Stefan Simić.

In front of RTS, a performance titled "Diary of a Free Serbia" was held, during which the president of the Association for the Protection of Constitutionality and Legality, Savo Manojlović, and the president of the Association of Unions of Retired Military Personnel of Serbia, Jovan Tamburić, spoke.
In the "Diary of a Free Serbia," the importance of the protest on April 13 in Belgrade was highlighted, and it was stated that police cordons will not stop citizens on that day in their fight for freedom.

"On April 13, we defend the Constitution and the right of every citizen of Serbia. If the authorities think they can hold us back with police cordons and tattooed criminals, they do not know the freedom-loving spirit of Belgrade and Serbia," said the guest of that Diary, the president of the Association for the Protection of Constitutionality and Legality, Savo Manojlović.

He said that citizens have already achieved victories through protests, as they led to the removal of the president of the Brus municipality, Milutin Jeličić, and the president of the Grocka municipality, Dragoljub Simonović.

"Every person is important on April 13; whatever we are like on April 13, we will be forever," Manojlović said.

He reminded that amendments to the Constitution in the area of judiciary are underway, which, according to him, place the judiciary under even stronger political control.

The president of the Association of Unions of Retired Military Personnel of Serbia, Jovan Tamburić, said that Belgrade should welcome citizens in a hospitable manner on April 13 so that the "deformed regime" can be seen off.

Historian Čedomir Antić said they must persevere in the fight for democracy.

"We know our path; we do not want civil war, not because we would lose, but because we do not want to sacrifice the blood of our loved ones for one freak and a group of his accomplices to leave; we will oust him peacefully, like his political grandfather Milošević," he said, adding that, like him (Milošević), he is announcing a counter-rally.

"But I do not see that in his fear he is trying to do anything smart or wise; he imitates his political grandfather, wants a counter-rally... For Putin, he barely gathered 70,000 people, even with busing. Does he want to bring Putin every time he needs to be seen with us?" Antić asked.

The participants of the protest "One in Five Million" demand fair and free elections, free media six to nine months before the elections, the removal of the state leadership, the editor-in-chief of RTS, as well as the uncovering of the murder of the leader of the Civic Initiative SDP, Oliver Ivanović.
