Educators shocked by the massacre in Belgrade: What we used to hear happening in the US is now happening here

(Patria) - "Catastrophe" - that's all that President of the Association of School Principals in Serbia, Dejan Nenadić, managed to say out of shock.

This is his reaction to the tragedy that occurred this morning at the "Vladislav Ribnikar" Elementary School in the Belgrade neighborhood of Vračar, when a 14-year-old student opened fire with a pistol at the school.

The President of the Association of School Principals told Nova.rs that there is no detailed information about this terrible event yet.

He stated that he was on his way to a meeting at the Ministry of Education. That meeting, as he indicated, was planned earlier and has nothing to do with the events at the "Vladislav Ribnikar" Elementary School.

The President of the Union of Education Workers' Unions of Serbia, Jasna Janković, says she is shocked after the shooting at the elementary school in Belgrade.

- I happened to be passing by and saw that something was happening. There was police. I saw elementary school students at the intersection, crying.

We have become a country where everything we used to hear on the news happening in America is now happening here.

It didn't take long for these unfortunate events to reach our schools. I still don't have all the details. I am shocked, this is a great tragedy - said Janković.
