HDZ BiH Delegation Attended: Čović Awarded Honorary Doctorate in Zagreb

ZAGREB, (Patria) - The University of Zagreb today awarded an honorary doctorate to Dragan Čović, member of the Presidency of BiH representing the Croat people and president of HDZ BiH. 

The explanation for awarding the doctorate states that Čović contributed to strengthening bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, preserving the Croat identity, promoting democratic values, and affirming Croatian educational, scientific, and cultural heritage in Europe and the world.

The ceremony was attended by officials of HDZ BiH, executive and legislative authorities at all levels, as well as the Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković, and the Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić. Čović had previously held separate meetings with them.

Plenković and Čović discussed the migration crisis, which is particularly visible on the northern border of BiH and the Republic of Croatia. The necessity of strengthening cooperation between the competent authorities of the two countries was agreed upon in order to resolve this problem satisfactorily. 

Čović also met with the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković, with whom he discussed the Election Law of BiH and support for the Croat people. 

Čović discussed the improvement of cooperation between the two countries with the Mayor of Zagreb.  

Čović will give a lecture titled „Euro-Atlantic Integrations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia“.
