Primary contacts with deceased patient not yet tested, Pilav without details on clusters

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Forty employees of the JU Health Center KS, medical and other staff, are in self-isolation following the death of patient A.K. (52) in Ilidža, who was examined several times at the Hrasnica clinic and the Ilidža Health Center, and who was found to be infected with coronavirus after her death. The Hrasnica clinic is closed until further notice.

Following this case, the JU Health Center KS took all necessary measures to prevent the potential spread of the virus.

As confirmed by Arman Šarkić, spokesperson for the JU Health Center KS for NAP, the building has been disinfected, and it was determined that the patient was in one wing of the Health Center where the Emergency Aid post is located.

Through the reorganization of staff from other health institutions, the functioning of the Ilidža Health Center is proceeding without problems.

Given the larger number of contacts in this cluster, it is unknown whether testing has started, especially for primary contacts with the deceased patient. All those in isolation are in contact with the relevant epidemiological services, but to date, it is unknown if any employees of the JU Health Center have been tested.

Regarding the family members of the deceased A.K., the coronavirus has been confirmed in her daughter, while the test results for other family members are negative.

Aida Pilav, president of the KS Crisis Staff, addresses the public daily with minimal information about tested samples and clusters. For now, it is known that there are nine clusters in KS, and two are linked to Ilidža. Confirmations from KCUS regarding positive coronavirus tests of samples from Ilidža are causing confusion in the public about which cluster is involved.

The KS Prosecutor's Office initiated a case ex officio on March 25 in the case of A.K.'s death.

“Checks are being carried out, and when we have information that we can share with the public, we will do so in a timely manner,” Azra Bavčić, spokesperson for the KS Prosecutor's Office, told Patria.

Questions that the media send daily to the KS Crisis Staff, led by Dr. Pilav, are most often unanswered or with minimal information. Yesterday, 1,880 people were under health supervision in KS, and as of today, there are 24 infected people in Sarajevo, including one death.
